Restaurant: Ben's Chili Bowl
Location: Washington DC, USA
Date: February 16th 2008
Dining Room: Across the street from the subway station entrance, the dining room is lengthy with various sections from front to back. Counter is in the front dining room. It's a honest, down home restaurant oozing it's character as a neighborhood favorite.
Notes: Chili Con Carne Small $3.70 Large $5.15 w/cheese & onions add $.35

Large Chili Con Carne with Cheese

This is one fantastic chili. It's has a unexpectedly smooth mouth feel. Upon first taste the chili offers pungently rich flavors that just screams for some accompanying bread. sadly there weren't any. Usually I do not like chili for it's sloppy texture and just mediocre taste. This is different. It offers good balance between smokiness and meaty flavors, while not being overwhelmingly spicy.(I would have liked it to but a bit more spicy) On and all, it's probably the most satisfying bowl of chili I've ever downed. A local gem indeed.
